Research Methods in Mass Communication

On-Campus Sessions/Orientation Information:
Course will be delivered by Web conferencing utilizing Adobe Connect. All students must be present, either in person or online, for the class sessions on Thursdays, 4:25 - 7:10 pm. USC Columbia students will be required to attend classes in School of Journalism and Mass Communications room 316; all other students will view classes live via the Internet and may call in with questions during class. Adobe Connect URL will be posted in Blackboard by the instructor prior to the first class meeting. High-speed Internet access is required for Adobe Connect.
Course Delivery Type: Over 50% Two-Way AV On-Campus: Two-way video conferencing allows audio and video interaction between students
at the remote site(s) and the instructor in a classroom (usually USC Columbia). Course may utilize Blackboard.
Credit: 3 semester hours of graduate credit

Graduate Bulletin Course Description: Methods and techniques of quantitative mass communications research: content analysis; survey research applications; media effects studies.
Prerequisites: Statistics competency and permission of instructor
