Online Public Communication

CLASS SESSION: Thursday, August 24, 2017-Monday, October 16, 2017

General Information: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Google Hangouts, etc. Students must have access to a reliable high-speed Internet connection capable of live two-way video chat. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

Online Session Information: (90% asynchronous; 10% synchronous) - some assignments will require students to meet live in small online video chat groups. No physical presence is required, all work can be completed remotely via the Web.

Syllabus Information: Enrolled students will be able to view in Blackboard.

Assignment Information: Enrolled students will be able to view in Blackboard.

Course Delivery Type: Web: A Web course is taught using one or more web delivery platforms such as Blackboard, Streaming Video, Adobe Connect etc. Students must have access to a high-speed Internet connection. More information will be provided by the instructor in the course syllabus.

(100% asynchronous - if course has any online or face-to-face meetings, live attendance will not be required. For any such sessions, there will be alternative ways to view or obtain the material covered).

Credit: 3 semester hours of undergraduate credit

Undergraduate Bulletin Course Description: Introduction to theory and practice of live and recorded online spoken communication in public, social, and institutional contexts. Training in invention, performance, and critical analysis of online spoken communication, including audience analysis, persuasion, delivery, and ethical engagement. Includes significant practice in preparing and presenting live online public communication.
